China urges relevant parties to do more to ease tensions on Korean Peninsula

BEIJING, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson here on Tuesday called on relevant parties to cherish the hard-won amelioration and do more to help promote dialogue and ease tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying made the remarks when answering a question that on the early morning of Tuesday, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) launched two projectiles.

Hua said that China noted the relevant move of the DPRK as well as the joint military exercise of the US and the Republic of Korea (ROK) starting from Monday, stressing that the situation on the Korean Peninsula is at a crucial stage.

She urged relevant parties to cherish the hard-won amelioration, do more to help promote dialogue and ease tensions, ensure the implementation of the political consensus of the leaders as soon as possible and make positive efforts to promote denuclearization of the Peninsula and the lasting peace there and in the region.
