DARFUR, Sudan, Dec. 3 -- First Lieutenant Jon of the Rwandan peacekeeping infantry battalion in Sudan made a special trip to the camp of the 16th Chinese peacekeeping engineer contingent to Darfur with a letter of thanks on November 29, expressing the gratitude to the Chinese counterparts for their emergency rescue.

On the afternoon of November 28, one of the infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) of the Rwandan peacekeeping infantry battalion rolled over about 20 kilometers north of the camp in Golo on its way back after finishing the patrol mission. Due to the lack of professional rescue equipment, the battalion asked the Chinese peacekeepers for help.

The Chinese contingent immediately dispatched emergency rescue forces to the scene. After nearly three hours' hard work, the trapped Rwandan IFV got rescued and back to normal.

"Thank you for helping us in the urgent need!" The commander of the Rwandan team expressed gratitude to the Chinese counterparts who were covered with stains.

It is learnt that the 16th Chinese peacekeeping engineer contingent to Darfur in Sudan has successively completed multiple tasks, including cleaning up the camp surroundings, building local facilities to improve people's livelihood, and carrying out joint construction activities since its deployment in early September 2020, wining widespread praise from the local people.
