In addition, recently some senior defense officials of Japan have frequently made negative remarks on topics such as the Taiwan question and the growth of the Chinese military, and even lobbied and colluded with its allies on many occasions to guard against and contain the Chinese military. Senior Colonel Tan Kefei, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of National Defense: The Defense of Japan 2021 White Paper released by Japan on July 13 groundlessly criticizes China’s normal national defense and military development, maliciously speculates on China's national defense policy, deliberately plays up the so-called "China threat" and grossly interferes in China's internal affairs on the Taiwan question. The Chinese military is strongly dissatisfied with and firmly opposed to it and is making solemn representations to the Japanese side.
There is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is a sacred and inseparable part of China's territory. Japan’s indiscreet remarks on the Taiwan question in its defense white paper seriously violated the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758 and the universal consensus of ‘one-China principle’ in the international community, damaged the spirit of the four political documents signed between China and Japan and Japan’s serious commitment to China on the Taiwan question, and also undermined the political foundation of Sino-Japanese relations, which is totally wrong and irresponsible. The Taiwan question is purely China's internal affairs and allows no interference by any external forces. The Chinese military will take all necessary measures to resolutely safeguard China’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
It should be stressed that China has always been committed firmly to the path of peaceful development and unswervingly pursues a national defense policy that is defensive in nature. China's national defense construction has always been focused on the legitimate needs of its own security, and the development of China's military capability is completely the growth of the world peace forces. Japan should treat the development of China and the Chinese armed forces objectively and rationally, and stop hyping the so-called ‘China military threat’. The Chinese military has full determination, confidence and ability to protect its people's well-being and safeguard the national sovereignty, security and development interests.
Recently, some senior Japanese defense officials frequently made negative remarks about China, which has damaged the foundation of Sino-Japanese defense relations and poisoned the atmosphere of bilateral relations. We warn Japan to bear in mind the lessons of history all the time, abide by its pacifist constitution and stick to its ‘purely defensive defense’ strategy and stop making wrong remarks on related issues, instead, work together with China to push forward the development of China-Japan defense relations on the right track.
