China's National Computer Virus Emergency Response Center (CVERC) and the cybersecurity company 360 respectively released their investigation reports on August 5 regarding the overseas cyberattacks against the Northwestern Polytechnical University, adding another piece of evidence to America's hacking activities.

The reports show that the Office of Tailored Access Operation (TAO) under the US National Security Agency (NSA) used 41 kinds of cyber weapons successively to attack the Northwestern Polytechnical University over 1,000 times and stole a batch of core technology data. The investigations also found that over the years, TAO has been organizing secret hacking against leading enterprises, governments, universities, and medical and research institutes in China, controlling related network equipment and being suspected to steal high-value data. It has also tapped Chinese cellphone users indiscriminately to steal short messages and wirelessly position the users.

Both reports presented a clear chain of evidence, including 13 people directly launching cyberattacks against China from the US, as well as more than 60 contracts and 170 electronic documents signed with American telecom operators in order to create the environment for launching such attacks. The evidence shows the world what dirty deals the NSA has been pulling in cyberspace, catches the US government red-handed on its massive, no-bottom-line cyber theft, and pierces through its mask of “fake victim”.

Since 2013, the US government has systemically smeared China on cybersecurity. It falsely accused the Chinese government of launching direct or indirect cyberattacks against the US and issued fabricated reports to confuse the international community, trying to paint China as the "victimizer" and itself as the "victim", thus manufacturing excuses for its bullying of China in the network and information industry.

But right and wrong will eventually come to light. As early as when PRISM program was exposed, Snowden, a former employee of a defense contractor, presented evidence of the US government’s massive tapping of phone and internet communication both at home and abroad, as well as its long-standing intrusion into servers at the headquarters of Chinese telecom giant Huawei and monitoring of its senior executives’ correspondences. In 2020, relevant authorities in China captured more than 42 million samples of malicious programs, and 53% of those based overseas came from the US, proving China to be the real victim of America’s cyber theft.

China is not the only victim of America’s tapping – even its allies have not escaped according to public information. Danmarks Radio (DR) had a special report in June 2021 on how NSA accessed the Danish network via Denmark’s intelligence department to obtain original data and keep an eye on the political figures in several European countries, including Merkel. Germany’s Der Spiegel reported that more than 500 million pieces of telephone and internet data in Germany were stolen by NSA, while France’s Le Monde said about 70 million pieces of phone data in France ended up with the same results…These ironclad details are irrefutable proof that the NSA, the thief crying catch thief, is the biggest hacker in the world.

The exposure of more and more evidence has long spread NSA’s bad name. Being affiliated to the US Department of Defense, NSA was responsible for tapping, collecting and intercepting signal intelligence during the Cold War. Entering the age of the Internet, it formed the TAO around 1998 to be in charge of conducting massive cyberattacks and theft against other countries. In addition to the tapping, the US, under the pretext of “maintaining public security”, also consistently asks some high-tech companies to leave “backdoor” in encrypted applications to facilitate its so-called “cyber law enforcement operations”. Germany’s Der Tagesspiegel said neither the British government, Germany Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) , nor the European Commission found any “backdoor” in Huawei’s devices, whereas security loopholes that have been frequently found in equipment provided by American company Cisco better fit the descriptions of “backdoor”.

Tons of evidence has proved the US to be a true empire of hacking, tapping, and secret stealing. Cyberbullying is no way to bring “absolute security”, and a thief crying catch thief will only expose its own crimes further.
