Joint military drill kicks off in Jordan

AMMAN, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- The annual Eager Lion military drill hosted by the Jordan Armed Forces kicked off on Sunday in the kingdom with the participation of 26 foreign militaries.

More than 4,000 military personnel and 1,000 civilians participated the drill, which runs until Sept. 15, state-run Al-Mamlaka TV reported, citing the drill's spokesman Mustafa Al-Hiyari.

The drill was set in simulated real-life situations and common security challenges such as terrorism that require unified efforts at the international level. The drill also simulated situations dealing with various threats from weapons of mass destruction, according to the spokesman.

Hosted by Jordan, Eager Lion is a joint drill designed to exchange military expertise among partner countries.
